How strong is your prayer game? (Fly Society)

Image
Hello Naturals!, I have one question... How strong is your prayer game? Today, I wanted to add to the July Prayer Intensive and share my experience with studying prayer! As we've discussed b efore, Prayer is a powerful thing. What makes it even more powerful is knowing how to properly use it!   Assuming that the average believer prays more often than none, I will go on a limb and say that you already know how powerful a prayer can be. There are different types of prayer. One being conversational. You know, relational. However, I'm talking about the earth shaking, weather changing, rent paying, job favoring, healing, dead resurrecting kind of prayer. After studying, researching, and speaking to the Lord, I have gathered that there is a key component that is often left out! And I'm here to tell you the secret! Are you ready? The Word of God. Yep, it's that simple. Before we get into it, I would like to add a few notable disclaimers and c

How to Pray: Tackling the Basics

Image
Hey Shanea, can you lead us in prayer? Me:       Me: Palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy.  There's vomit on her sweater already, mom's spaghetti. Sh e's nervous, but on the surface, she looks calm and ready.  To drop bombs, but she keeps on forgettin'.  What she wrote down, the whole crowd goes so loud. Sh e opens her mouth, but the words won't come out. Sh e's choking.  O k, this may seem like an over exaggeration. Ok, it is and if the words sound familiar to you it's because those were the lyrics from 8 Mile lol But, hey, prayer can seem pretty scary when you're just starting out or in front of a lot of people, especially if you're not well practiced, aren't familiar with what to do, or nervous about others hearing you. We've all been there. To be real...quite a few of us have cheated over the years by nonchalantly reverberating the same quick prayer over our food, if we pray at all, or opting for our father or eldest

Faithful to Believe

Many of times we hear the word Faith and how we should apply it to our lives. But what is Faith really and how important is it in our walk with God? A loaded question indeed, but don't worry...we have time lol What is Faith ? Webster defines Faith as  - Fidelity to one's promises: sincerity of intentions -A belief and trust in and loyalty to God. -Firm belief in something for which there is no proof  -Complete truth -Something that is believed especially with strong conviction  The Bible defines Faith, via Hebrews 11:1, as: "Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  (KJV) "Now Faith is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see." (NIV) "Faith is the reality of what we hope for, the proof of what we don't see." (CEB) "Now FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being th

Native: The Pick-Up

After The "Switch-up," I decided to  Pick-Up my Bible and dedicate at least 30 minutes of my day to spending time with God and studying his word. Consistency is something that I struggle with, so I set realistic guidelines to further support my pursuit of God. I chose to wake up earlier because my days and evenings can get a little hectic & I didn't want to risk missing a few days. Also, I am more likely to have a great day when I start on a good note! So, Morning it is! Many say, "The bible is boring," "I can't understand it," or "I fall asleep every time." Well, clearly they must not have read much of the Old Testament LOL Talking about drama. Love and Hip Hop New York ain't got nothing on the Old Testament. For those who have trouble understanding, The "Thee's," "Thy's," and "Thou's" problem can be easily factored out by switching the Translation. I read from quite a few, but m
